Loft extension advice pls

We have finally secured a loan to get a loft extension and I’m so happy. We need another bedroom and bathroom, the room will be for our 9 year old so he doesn’t need an en-suite. Due to where our other bathroom is, it would be better to use the dormer for this.
has anyone else put the bathroom in the front part or can suggest the best way to configure this (we don’t mind if it makes the room fairly small….TIA

Without a plan of the house it’s probably impossible to advise you.

Macerator toilets are amazing.. we converted attic and put one in… the pipe is so narrow and they need electricity..

Why would it be better to use the dormer based on fhe location of your other bathroom..? They’ll be running new pipes I would just put it where you want it. Lots of people put bathroom at front or back of a loft conversion. Maybe look on Rightmove/instagram for inspiration if you’re not sure where to start?

We have 2 bedrooms and a bathroom (not ensuite) in our loft. Bathroom is in dormer above the family bathroom.

Is there any reason for you not to take the new loft room, (and make it ensuite), and ds to take your old room and use the family bathroom?

I disagree about macerator toilets. They are noisy and they get blocked immediately if anyone accidentally puts anything other than loo roll and human waste down them and you have to call a specialist guy out to clear the block because of the electricity and the danger blades.

This is the floor plan.
My partner and I separated a few years ago but continue to live together with the kids (we get on well but not as a couple), it seemed logical that my son (the eldest) had the new room and the rest of us retained our current bedroom’s. If it’s a seperate bathroom anyone can use it so it seems more useful in my head.

So are you putting the bathroom over bedroom 3? That will be fine

Have a look on Rightmove for sold houses in the area that are the same as yours and see what they did.
