Kitchen renovation due to be completed today 😋

Hi,

We moved into a property on 6 Aug and as soon as we got the keys got busy working out how to replace the kitchen. Found a great fitter who was brilliant at helping us, and also went to the main places who drew up plans. We designed it ourselves and just had the final touches put in by the suppliers.

Just wanted to show it off as its beautiful, will post the before pics now and as soon as the fitter leaves today will take some afters. It's been 3 weeks, he started ripping out the old on bank holiday Monday, we finally had a working cooker this week so no more airfryer meals 😁

There are a few things he needs to come back to finalise but it will be 99% complete by the time he goes later. The transformation is amazing.
Kitchen done today and the bathroom is being started on Monday 😆

I love a good before and after!

ShiningforLeeBertie · 12/09/2025 10:42

It's felt like a really long old slog, we have had to strip and decorate every single room as the whole house was dirty and worn.

Our list of things we have done in the last month:
New kitchen
Living room replastered, awaiting painting
All 4 bedrooms wallpaper stripped, sanded and painted
New carpets
New furniture including wardrobes, beds, units built
New bathroom designed and to be started Monday
New windows ordered, to be installed in October
Plus many more minor things.

We knew loads of work needed doing so were prepared for it, we are still living out of boxes until we can start putting things in the new kitchen which will help massively.

I love a good before and after!

Hello mum! 👋

Can't wait to see the after pics.

Although..
I live in a terraced house and both next door neighbours are having kitchen renovations. My ears hurt!

ShiningforLeeBertie · 12/09/2025 10:45

Have some "during" pics to keep you going until later 😁

Wont be finished for another week or so. Also got bathroom fitter starting next week.
Look forward to pics!

Posting to save my place for the after pictures 😁

We did our kitchen last year, it's my favourite room in our flat (probably because the rest of the flat is either not redecorated or redecorated badly by us and looking very shabby)

ShiningforLeeBertie · 12/09/2025 10:49

Second.

The suppliers came around yesterday to drop off a door, they are so impressed they want it on their socials, and the fitter will be using it as their main job on their website, hes taken so many pics and he deserves to get loads of work from this.

I love your username - I've seen it on a few threads and wish I'd thought of it 😁

Bloody hell. Your before pictures are way better than the kitchen I have now 😧 I don't think I want to see your after pictures 😂

It's always exciting to cross a job off a list though, no matter how big or small. Enjoy your new kitchen OP.

It was horrendous though, the dishwasher blew up when we first switched it on, the cooker didn't cook anything (45 minutes for a pizza 🤣) and the doors were falling off. It was caked in grease and just generally an eyesore.

I would be interested to know the ballpark costs for your renovations if you're happy to share? We are waiting to complete on a house and will have similar works to do!

The fitter bought the kitchen using his trade discount, we ended up spending about 8k in Magnet which included all cupboards, lighting, flooring which included extra to run through the conservatory when that is done, sink, dishwasher, wine cooler, tap.

The fitting costs will roughly come to probably about 5k including materials, that includes the fitter, plasterer, electrician and gas engineer.

We spent 3k on the cooker, hood and fridge roughly.

And it's taken 3 solid weeks to get it where it is now.

We haven't got the final fitting bill yet, but he said about 4k when we started, and hes been brilliant.

He should be done this afternoon so after pics will be posted asap

Looking forward to the 'after' pics of your completed kitchen @ShiningforLeeBertie!

Sounds like you've achieved loads in the short space of time since completion.

We've been in our downsize cottage project a year next week and are still battling away at it (DIYing the majority, which always takes an age, plus we have had to take load bearing walls out/add steels etc) We haven't even got the new boiler in yet, but hoping that we, too, will have the kitchen done by Christmas as we've been reliant on airfryer and microwave since Feb when we ripped the old 1960s kitchen out. No hot water since then either as the 1980s boiler no longer works 🙄

I'm keeping everything crossed your fab new kitchen is finished today as I'm living vicariously through you!

Signing up for the update!

LemograssLollipop · 12/09/2025 15:00

Think @thomascaplon saw the advert for kitchens and assumed it was the after pic...I nearly did!

I'm so impressed you've done this so soon after moving in 👏🏽Our kitchen needs doing and I'm thinking I need to take the plunge. It's a kitchen diner and I want to swap it around as the diner is larger and make that the kitchen.

Oh I am really interesting in doing this too but unsure how easy it might be… do come back and update if you manage it!

It looks bloody lovely

JenniferBooth · 12/09/2025 15:22

its going to take three weeks for a housing association to fit a kitchen in my friends small one bedroom flat. They started on Tuesday and wont finish till the 26th

Hopefully you will say that when I post the pics 😁

We had a kitchen diner and we have turned it all into kitchen so we have twice as much space there now. Definitely needed it for the size of the fridge and cooker 🤣
