Hi everyone

I’m desperate. We’ve been looking for a house with a budget of £1 mil. Ideally we’d like to stay around the 900k mark and not higher just because I plan to go off on maternity leave for 12 months, and don’t want husband to be too stressed. We do not have the stress of losing our jobs fortunately.

ideally we’d like to stay west, or south west london. We want a home that we’d stay in for 10-15 years. We don’t want to have to keep paying and losing money to stamp duty. We found a few lovely houses in Acton and wanted to know what other mums out there feel about it. We have looked at Wimbledon, Ealing and are just priced out of it. Kingston is out of the option for me purely because I don’t drive and need access to tubes.

so far, what I’ve read are bad vibes about Acton. I know the area alright and there are def areas that are dodge especially around the high street. But would like to know others opinions

I cannot comment from personal experience, but my BIL and SIL have lived in Acton for the past 10 years or so. They live about 10 minutes from Acton Park, so in West Acton (towards White City).

Ive never heard them complain about where they live- they certainly could move if they wanted to, but are actually looking to extend their current property further, so the area can’t be too bad! Their child is in a lovely nursery nearby which they love, and I know my SIL has a group of NCT friends from maternity leave.
