Waxed wooden floors maintenance

Does anyone have waxed wooden floors? We have them in our new (okd) house, on two floors. We decided not to sand them, not sure if it was a right decision and we may still change it in future, but for now I need to look after them as it is. The wax was last applied by my builder almost a year ago at the end of the renovation; I was too overwhelmed with other stuff to do it again after 6 months, and now it’s time.

Question is, how? Do I buy/rent one of these old fashion little machines and do it myself, or shall I hire a guy? In my city I’m sure they’ll charge a lot for this. Apparently people just used to do it themselves, but my grandmothers have both passed away and my mother has never lived in a house with such floors, and I have no one to ask!
