Brown box for cable left like this

Buying a house . When I first viewed the house the brown box had the covering , went for another viewing and now it’s been left like this !

I would never leave it like this for someone so I’ve asked the EA to ask Vendor what happened to it and all I got back was

“brown box tv cable wire not in use. ( I think you can get new covers for these as a friend of mine managed to get one for his house)”

I can see clearly it’s not in use but I expected an explanation at least as to how it got like that , what would you do ?

it’s a tripping hazard as well as wire is on top of the pavement …

I want it removed completely but because I didn’t install it I’m not sure the company (assuming it’s Virgin ) will come out and do so..

What a strange thing to get worked up about. If you do buy the house, just cut the wire!

You expect an explanation as to how it got like that? The vendors are not primary school children. This is not your house. You have no right to an explanation. I would however assume it got damaged somehow and ask myself if it was a dealbreaker before considering my offer. It seems a nothing issue to me.

You haven’t bought or offered on the house OP
Im not sure what you want

I have exactly this on my house, the explanation is: the plastic box perished in the elements and broke and I haven't got round to chopping the defunct wires out.

Just chop all the wires out and fill the holes, that's what we did with all the ugly boxes and wires left by generations of TV and internet connections.
