Black door frames - are we moving away from these

About to spend a fortune on a large sliding door for new extension. Everyone seems to have been getting the big black aluminium doors for the past 10 years. But I think I’d like something lighter, as going for quite a delicate look with the decor, and the sliders are slimline.
Man in the glass / window shop said 99% of people go for black, which makes me feel like I must be being silly wanting something lighter (not grey or white).
Any insight would be much appreciated

What colour are your windows or do you intend on replacing them? Is the house brick, stone, or render?

I think black looks like a statement but it depends how it then fits with the rest of the room. If you plan on having strong colours then I think black would be lovely but if you're planning a more muted natural palette then I agree with you something more subtle would be better.

All the windows will be replaced as part of the extension. It’ll be brick, unless we end up rendering it but at the moment keeping it brick is the plan.
