Looking to move back to near Exeter but want to find property that is more countryside living but still with access to the city (daughter is going to school in central Exeter).

we like the look of properties we’ve seen in these two towns and wondering what people think of both of them?

Any pros/ cons? I know Newton st cyres has a train station so that’s a bonus!

Both villages are lovely and close to Exeter. Brampford Speke feels more rural and tucked away, with a small school, pub, and village charm. Newton St Cyres has a bit more going on—farm shop, recreation ground, historic church—and also a good primary school. If you want very quiet countryside, Brampford Speke is ideal; for a bit more community and amenities, Newton St Cyres may suit better.

Personally I'd plump for Newton St Cyres as public transport links are better there & as your DD grows up & becomes a teen she will want to meet her mates in Exeter & would be able to get herself to/from there on the bus or train. As PP said Newton St Cyres has an good primary school & plenty going on in the village to keep you all occupied.

You also need to think about the winter. It doesn't snow often, but those lanes can get very icy and in Bramford Speke you could be cut off for days whereas the council will prioritise gritting & sending snow ploughs on the Crediton, Newton St Cyres road.
