what do I do with these swirsly curtain pole things?

In my hallway I have a little window that from memory had a voile type curtain dressing which matched the ones at the top of the stairs.

I don't like voiles particulary but I have to do something with these swirly things as if I remove them they will damage the wall. We are selling the house and these abandonded swirly things on my wall just look odd and the voiles at the top if the stairs are looking a bit yellow.

Do I buy one voile and drape it over. But having measured the window it is 105 cm long and 60cm wide. So what size single voile would I need?

I have ordered the Chenille Stripe Voile Eyelet Panel for the top of the stairs which I don;t really like but I need something there so for my swirly bits will the 135 by 229 curtain be OK?

I have no idea....but who is your dh shagging?

twinsetandpearls · 29/05/2008 13:51

I don't even have a dh!

Hopefully dp is only shagging me, if I sort out these flippin curtains he will be very greatful and I will be on a promise.

I don't understand the swirly bits. What are they? I would just drape any old size over if I were you. You don't want to be blocking out the 'natural daylight' as the Beany would say.

maidamess · 29/05/2008 13:59

Are they like this? Or a pole?

From what I can remember savoy they didn't really cover much of the window just the top bit.

Can't buy a longer version of the curtain above as it has eyelets anyway.

IMO I think you should rip 'em out and start again.

savoycabbage · 29/05/2008 14:04

I still just don't get it! Sorry I am no help at all in your twirly bit problems.

twinsetandpearls · 29/05/2008 14:16

Do you think I can rip them off and have nothing there? It is only a small hall window.

What do I do upstairs, I was jiut going to replace the hanging voile with a new fresher hanging voile.

I would take them down in the hall.

Let the light in. Replace the one upstairs, but don't knock yourself out with the downstairs one. Or could you just wash the upstairs ones to freshen them up?

twinsetandpearls · 29/05/2008 14:24

The upstairs one is on the landing.

Right will ask dp to take them down in the hall. he was so chuffed when he found a replacement- this will break his heart!

Blimey, I am clueless on such matters and always get my mother to sort it out

Shoes, bags, clothes I can do. Curtains I cannot.

twinsetandpearls · 29/05/2008 15:24

Have just spoken to dp and he wants to keep the flippin things, apparantly I need a voile scarf!
