Please help me decorate

We’ve just moved house and have this space which leads from our kitchen.

There will be a tv on the wall, a sofa and a dining table behind. Any recommendations for how to decorate this space would be greatly appreciated! I’m rubbish at this stuff.

Given the cold grey flooring, I would use a slightly warm paint on the walls and add a rug to remove the focus on the floor. As you have the radiator on the wall, your are sort of limited on media unit (assuming the TV will be above the radiator), so something open like Kallax from Ikea, so the air can flow. I would not use a big coffee table as it looks like it may be on the way (hard to say without the floorpan). I would add a shelf/cupboard behind the couch to give it some structure and delimit the dining area. You have lovely sized walls on the side, so go bold on a big art work or mirror (depending on the sun direction). Finalise with some plants!

@Bigpinkbubblebath The attached pics show what we did in a similar space at our last house.

Our dining table was in a different 'room' (although the two were knocked through it still felt like two separate rooms!), so we didn't have to take that into account. We also had much warmer (dark oak) flooring.

I'd definitely choose a warm wall colour and a colourful rug that takes up much of the seating area (at least the front legs of sofa etc should sit on the rug) and will zone the two functions of your room. I agree about large art/mirror. We have a massive mirror that we placed opposite our wall of windows and it bounced light around including into the darker dining room.

Much of our colour came from the rug which we then picked up in the assortment of cushions and lamps as well as a brightly coloured loveseat.
