Potential shared access problem

I've moved to a council property in march. The garden has shared access with next door, meaning they can walk through, bring bins etc I've been ok with this although I think their visitors using it is a bit cheeky but I don't want to have any fall outs over nothing. Last weekend they disposed of a poly tunnel at the end of the garden and I've now seen a scooter which I assume was in there. My worry is the husband works nights, 4 til 1 I believe, and gets back around 1.30 and I'm stressing he's going to start using this scooter for work and going to get woken up with him riding it across the path below mine and my daughters bedrooms. This is a hypothetical and I'm hoping it's not going to happen but do I have any say in this if it does?

Have you ever heard the scooter before

No, I didn't even know they had one until they got rid of the polytunnel, I assume it was in there.

So how was it getting in and out of the poly tunnel? Where is it now kept?

GasPanic · 06/08/2025 14:04

Most reasonable people I think would push it out to the street rather than start it up in the back yard, especially if they thought there were people trying to sleep in close proximity.

I'd probably wait and see if it happens and if it does I would politely ask them to walk it away from your house before they started it, and if they were a decent neighbour they would.

I think it was being kept in the polytunnel, this was dismantled and taken away at the weekend and the scooter is now in the garden.

It's more of a case of the time he comes home which is about 1.30am and then I have to get up for work about 2.40am.

Can you just ask them if he's going to be using it. What do their visitors do, have they got their own private access to the garden, is it a shared garden,

TizerorFizz · 06/08/2025 19:41

@OneGreyBiscuit So was it started up in the poly tunnel? I don’t entirely see what’s changed? How did he access the road before?

Lokit · 06/08/2025 20:48

Are they actually using the scooter? Only Lime (hire) scooters are street legal & only then in specific zones. It's illegal to use a privately owned scooter except on private land with the landowners permission.
