House Removal Vans London recommendations

I'm close to exchange and need to hire a removal company but got quoted over £2,500 for a 2 bed house 3 miles away. Does anyone have any recommendations as this is too expensive for me. thanks

That seems expensive. Try other companies- we had a huge range of quotes and estimates 18 months ago and paid less than that with packing (and we have a LOT of books ans kids stuff)! (from 3 bed in zone 3 to 5 bed 50 miles away)

Blimey I paid less than that to move from London to Bristol, 2 Luton vans! Have you got a local FB community page?

Get quotes from https://www.shiply.com/.

It's a bidding site, you post details of the job and can then compare quotes and check verified reviews. The prices are very competitive because the firms base their quotes around jobs they're already doing, to be efficient with mileage.

They've always done a grand job, big or small, for me.

Do NOT repeat NOT confuse them with "anyvan" who will add a high markup and just send anyone along without proper vetting. I speak from bitter experience based on removals that didn't turn up all day because they "took a wrong turn at Grimsby" then arrived in a dilapidated vehicle, pissed all over the bathroom I'd just cleaned, and kept pestering me for tips (among other horrors)...

We used Doree Bonner who were great and well priced. I used to work for a rival removals company and knew I’d always use DB when I moved haha. And yes the one I worked for went bust in the end (long after I left).
