Move to Notts/Derby Area

My husband and I are looking to settle in the Notts/Derby area to stay and start our family. Can you reccomend safe places for us to live?
We're a mixed race family and have experienced racist abuse where we have been living and desperately want to get away from that.
We have some job opportunities near Selston and Matlock - would they be safe?

Matlock is fab. Matlock bath not so much. Bakewell is nice but expensive. The little villages all around there are nice, crich etc . Further towards Derby is not quite as nice. (Belper way) But it is cheaper and up and coming. The closer to the M1 the cheaper and less niace. If you can then the other side of the peaks is actually much quieter and cheaper houses with trains too. Macc to London is easier than alfreton to London for example. You could also go to Ashbourne to derby which is fast and super cheap. There isn't necessarily a lot of ethnicity but racism isn't tolerated. I used to work in Sheffield and found it a divided city in alot of ways. I have never ever been asked ' when I am a going home before' anywhere else. And I'm white british, it's my name that's not but that's enough to be othered. It's happened more than once.
