Under-stairs cupboard revamp

The space under our stairs needs some proper TLC. The previous owners never really bothered to do any kind of upkeep, it’s currently a mishmash of incredibly old wallpaper, woodchip, holes and cracks in the wall, carpet from the 20s, you get the picture.
I’d love to get a carpenter in to create some custom pull out drawers and nice shelving, but would they be able to do this or do I need a different tradesperson first to strip everything off and replaster?
Sorry if this is a silly question, we’ve never had any significant work done in any of the houses we’ve lived in.
Many thanks for any advice

How big is the space, and is it an open space or a cupboard?

It is an L-shaped cupboard that includes the under stairs space.
Thank you for the links, will take a look now!

You're welcome. I'm envious of your cupboard already.

We stripped the paper off the walls and ceiling, had the area replastered and then had the joiner add shelving in an L shape. Added a door in the kitchen into it so it serves as a pantry. It’s such an amazing space!
