Piece of string question - how long will an extension take???

It would be a single storey extension, across the back of our house. The house is a terrace, so the only access will be through the house. Am I looking at weeks or month of hell ?

Can anyone who has done the same give me an idea of HOW hellish it would be??

Ha ha ha(sorry!). Took me back! We had this done four years ago. We had the same as you (terrace) but some limited access thru back garden. We had an extension and new kitchen fitted, wood laminate flooring put down.
It took from 31st August til mid November,so around 12 weeks. This was when the kitchen was usable and everything was decorated etc.The house was THICK with dust for a good few weeks while they demolished the existing lean-to and extension (I mean it was all up the stairs and in the bedrooms!!!!!!! - we do have an open plan house though). We also didn't have a kitchen for a LONG time. This was before we had kids - it would have been impossible with them I think. While we had it done we also had our stairs replaced, new carpet throughout, redecorated the living room and had a new front door!!!!!!!!!
Best tip is to find a really good builder who will stay on your job til its done! Good luck

We are two weeks into a single storey extension right across the back of our semi and garage.

Builders plan to do it in four months.

I am sure it will be worth the hell, I am staying positive.
