flies & bifold doors

I've bifold doors & flies are pouring in then flying up into the skylight (which doesn't open) which is where they get stuck.

Is anyone else having this problem & how can I manage it?
thanks!

having the same problem

dont think there is a solution unless we put some of screen across the bifold doors but that will look ghastly

We had this issue, putting a blind up on the skylight made a huge difference. Flies still come in, but not as many and they dont go up to the window, so long as the blind is closed.

agree - a screen wouldn't look good but also there isn't space at where the screen would fold up - does that make sense?

thank you - I've looked into blinds but the skylight is about 9 foot long & couldn't find anything that large :-(

someone suggested bags of water hanging from the architrave - which might not look great but could be better than the mounds of dead insects!

We have a similar situation 10x4ft skylight , we got custom blinds from https://www.specialist-blinds.co.uk/

it was mainly for heat & light and is brilliant.

it has helped the insects situation hugely but not completely. I’m now looking into bifold screens - spotted a certain style one in Spain which looks cheap and easy to install, can be removed for non-summer.

I’ve been looking for some sort of screens too. I don’t have the skylight issue but even with just one section of the bifolds open I had birds come in twice in the last week.

DH isn’t keen but between flies and wasps and now birds we definitely need something!
