Safety issue

The house next door is being renovated. Today a heavy roof ridge tile landed in my garden. If it had hit me it would have at best caused serious injury and at worst killed me. It has gouged out some of the plaster on the house wall. The owners of the property have moved out for the renovation and I do not have a contact number for them. Any suggestions please for who I could contact about this? I live on my own and don't feel confident to approach the builders directly.

I'm not sure what you want doing about it?

It is ALWAYS a risk, that can happen at any time. In fact one of the biggest public liability of home ownership and the exact reason why home owners need insurance.

However since it didn't hit you its a non issue, insurance wouldn't be interest and no crime or anything has happened and accidental risk just came true as it always could.

I live in a storm prone area and we lose tiles, guttering, fences, gates and all sorts several times a year. They don't always fall during storms either, they work lose during the storm and fall at random times, one nearly took out the postman once.

Thank you very much JohnofWessex, I'll call them in the morning.

Well, housethatbuiltme, some safety netting on the scaffolding to prevent further falling debris would be welcome.
