Paying for unfinished job on house

Hello, advice sought on how much to pay for a job that hasn't gone to plan. In short - original quote was £2000, £800 added on once work started due to that part of the property being in worse condition than originally seen (£2800 total) . Deposit of £800 paid so £2000 outstanding) . Job was finished but noticed cracks in glass windows created by the people doing the work. Company says it will replace the glass but at the moment this part of the property is in an unfinished state while we await replacement materials. The company have emailed asking for the rest of the cost minus £500 which would be payable once the glass is replaced. Question - do I have any legal right to refuse to pay any more than the original £800 deposit until the whole job is completed? I don't want to be difficult or tricksy, but if they don't complete the work or it's done badly, it'd cost a LOT more than £500 to remedy! thanks

What did you agree at the beginning?

If the remaining £2000 was agreed to be paid once work was completed, and the work isn’t completed I’d keep hold of the £2000.

Surely it won’t be that much longer for them to replace the broken window?

The original quote included - 'payment against all invoices is due on completion and satisfaction of the works being carried out.'
