Every year when we have a few hot days I decide I want ceiling fans in the lounge and bedroom, but this year we are definitely doing it!

Can anyone recommend any please?

We installed these ones from Argos in all our bedrooms years ago. I have linked the one with black blades but they are also available in both white and silver. I have come to the conclusion that ceiling fans with lights are never pretty but they are so good on hot nights.

Be aware that light/fan combo can trigger migraine (at best) and epilepsy type fits (at worst) in some people and if you have one in the lounge, visitors may not know they're sensitive to the flickering until they keel over!

I have one from B&Q downstairs that sadly they don't do anymore as it's fantastic. I had a smaller 3 blade one in my bedroom but I found it was a bit too far from the bed to cool me, so I bought this one and had it installed. Oh my goodness, it's the best thing ever plus it has a remote so I can change the speed without having to get up 😁

There are probably fancier ones but I was looking for the cheapest 5 blade 52 inch one that I could get as that's what I have downstairs. It appears in the world if ceiling fans that size matters and the more blades the better.

I’ve tried a few different ceiling fans and the light is generally rubbish. This one has been great, and is very low profile.

Wooden blade ceiling fan I have this one in my lounge and love it. Multiple speeds, three colour temps for the light, and remote control. It's silent and very effective.

Thanks everyone, DH is on the case looking at the recommendations.
We don't actually use the Big Light in the lounge so if it's rubbish it doesn't matter but we do in the bedroom so will bear that in mind. The

@Phoenix1Arisen I had no idea about that, DD does get migraines occasionally so will watch out for that

I just looked it up..Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures. Big words for a sensitivity which I have experienced in my own life. A ceiling fan in a local restaurant set off migraines, as did the lighting in a newly built supermarket which after just a month had to close for a different system installation when so many people had the same adverse reaction. I can't watch genuine old movies without very quickly feeling dizzy and nauseous and car journeys with low winter sun flickering through bare branched hedgerows make me genuinely ill.

Apparently it's all to do with the particular rhythm of the flickering so perhaps with a bit of research, you'll find the right fan for your home. Good luck.
