Our Building Plans say Celotex but it’s being recommended we used Kingspan. Is this likely to be an issue with Building Control? The u value is the same.

thanks

Those are just brand names for composite panels do they have a specification with them ? For example PUR/PIR or rock wool? I’m assuming the building plans have specified PIR for insulation purposes I wouldn’t be accepting a PUR product under any circumstances. The speciations are likely to be near identical between celotex and kingspan so it’s likely a cost issue or a guarantee issue that’s driven the kingspan recommendation I’m afraid I can’t tell from your post. If you give more detail I might be able to help further.

As the products are basically the same , you may want to take ethics of the company into consideration… kingspan lied about the flammability of their product which was then used to clad Grenfell tower. The evidence all came out in the inquiry, they blatantly lied about the tests they’d conducted.

Both celotex and kingspan were named in the grenfell enquiry

From what I remember a lot of the panels were celotex, ant the most problematic ones were arcinic or something, but kingspan were the company who were shown to have actively lied about the flammability of their product.
no one involved in the refurb came out of it well… tragic mistakes and dishonesty layered upon each other
