Soundproofing a room

I recently moved into an end of terrace house and it is really noisy. Is there anything I can do cheaply to prevent noise coming through the wall?

You can soundproof but the really good stuff isn't cheap and you need someone to fit it. In my most favourite house I had high quality soundproofing fitted in the stairs and part of the kitchen diner and it was great. I can't remember what it was called but I think even then it was over £1k all in. You then need it plastered.

We've had soundproofing fitted here between bedrooms, just the soundproofing panels and they are ok. But this house only has dry wall as walls to start with.
