Flooring repair

I have zero repair or DIY knowledge but would like to start tacking the little projects round my home. The flooring in my little one’s room was like this when we moved in. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have no idea what type of flooring it is to google. The damage is positioned too close to the door to hide with a rug! Thanks in advance.

Straight forward but you’ll need some tools. Basically you will cut out that particular plank. Once done you need a matching one - I’d take the cut one to B&Q or similar to match it up. You then cut the bottom off the groove part of the plank on the long and short sides and the tongue off the short side. Lots of glue on the floor and then in she goes. If you need a video google something along the lines of replace single laminate flooring plank.

If you can’t get a matching plank, you might be able to swap it with one under a bed or wardrobe. It depends if the pieces are click fit or glued down.
