St Albans secondary catchment "hole"

Hoping someone living in St Albans can advise... My head hurts from studying secondary state school catchment areas! We are currently considering a move from north London to St. Albans. Some of the houses we are interested in are in the Fleetville and Highfield areas. However, looking at the map of secondary school catchments, I'm worried that we would fall right in a secondary catchment "hole", not quite getting into either Beaumont or Samuel Ryder. I don't quite understand how this works - surely kids living in those areas have to go to school somewhere?! I wouldn't want a Catholic school, so that rules out Nicholas Breakspear and Loreto. Very grateful for any intel, as we don't want to be dismissing promising houses unnecessarily. My kids are currently little and not at the secondary stage, but we don't want to have to move again. Thank you!

@boysmuminherts Thank you! Unfortunately I think our closest school would be Beaumont, which we certainly wouldn't get. We'd most likely be slightly too far from Samuel Ryder as well, and I'm pretty sure wouldn't get STAG either, though not sure about Verulam for our son. So tricky if you're not keen on a faith school! It's really putting me off St Albans, to be honest.

Isn’t STAGS a lottery?
