Pergola to stop sun

We have a west facing garden so our lounge and bedrooms are boiling. We have solved this in our bedroom with an aircon unit and new type brilliant black out blinds.

But our lounge is unliveable due to the heat. We have an electric awning but it can’t be out when it’s windy which is most of the time despite it being hot.

Has anyone solved this problem? Anyone bought a Harbour metal pergola which is like an outside room and if so does it work?

I don't remember the manufacturers but in our last house we had a roofed pergola (like a conservatory without glass sides) added to our lounge French windows. The structure was metal and the glass was uv treated so it was a nice place to sit, not too hot or bright. They stressed that we could later add glass sides if we wanted. We planted pots with clematis climbers which was an attractive addition.

I'm sure there is more than one manufacturer out there. It was a good move for us and a lot cheaper than a conservatory because it didn't need foundations.
