Single skin mortgage- Nat West

Hello, wondering if there are any mortgage brokers who could share their experience/prediction?

we’re trying to mortgage a beautiful cottage, financially we’ve been signed off subject to valuation, here’s where it gets tricky. Nationwide have refused to lend as the house has 30-35% single skin construction.

we need a 90% LTV mortgage.

weve just applied to Nat West, on our brokers advise, and we are now waiting the valuation.

Mortgage broker should be able to find you a provider who will be happy to land. Is yours experienced with non standard?
When we looked at non standard construction Halifax was for example known as reasonable lender, BUT they usually want higher deposit %, I think you may have quite a hard time getting one with 90% ltv tbh.

Good luck!

(I still don't get why these things really are such an issue in UK. Iirc like 6% of properties are "non-standard" construction 🙄)
