Portable aircon unit with top opening casement windows

Our new build property is becoming unbearable in the summer so I would like to purchase a portable aircon unit. we have top opening casement windows like the attached photo, however every unit I find only mentions side opening or the other style of window. Will it be possible to use one with ours?

Yeah it’ll be fine. You can get window kits for pretty much everything but we just shove the hose out and fire her up. Maybe not as energy efficient as getting a window kit but it works fine. I will get around to drilling a duct in the wall at some point and then we can properly exhaust the unit.

Just to add. The hoses are sometimes a bit short and won’t reach out the window. You can get longer hoses / extensions pretty readily on Amazon. We had to do this as we’re venting out of a top window.

You'd need to measure the width when the window is open as wide as possible, then check the hose width on the portable unit you're thinking of. Ideally you'd also seal round the hose somehow - DH made a plywood fitting for the gap when we had one. We now have fully fitted aircon throughout the house, so the unit did work
