Selling House

Hi we are currently nearly 3 months into the sale of our house. Firstly our purchasers are saying no completion until end August when this week we are in the position to exchange on both our purchase and the sale. They are now changing mortgage company this means another survey on the house. My estate agents are useless. The buyers don’t communicate with them and may send me a response after a few days. My solicitor is away. This is causing me major anxiety thanks xx

I sympathise. We are almost 2 months into our sale and contract packs have been sent, and searches applied for, on both sale and forward purchase. Solicitors are currently dealing with small enquiries that have been raised from the contract packs and no surveys have been booked yet as our buyers solicitor, for some reason, wants to wait until our Solicitor has responded to confirmation she wanted about access to the property. Our Solicitor has replied with the information she has requested but we still have no phone call from a surveyor to book a survey in. It is going painfully slowly and I am seriously losing the will to live. I am trying to get the balance right between being patient and pushing but its very very stressful. The lack of communication between all parties is slow and lacking.

I feel your pain. We have everything in order to exchange, an in depth survey carried out all paperwork completed and now with the introduction of the buyers seeking a new mortgage this means I have to take time off work, the new survey might bring up new issues! It’s a nightmare. My estate agents are useless and rude. I am sure when we moved previously it was not this stressful x

It sounds bloody hideous and I feel for you being so close to the end of it all and then having all this being thrown into the mix. It feels never ending. This has definitely been the most stressful move we have done so far and it seems to be far more complicated for some reason.

There seem to be more and more checks and boxes to tick and buyers seem to demand more and more 'be done' and 'be checked' before they buy anything these days. I never remember it being quite so thorough and picky in the past. And why is everything so damned slow?? Honestly its painful.

It is stressful and very unpleasant trying to sell a house. We moved at the end of last year and before that, it was 10 years ago.

It wasn’t plain sailing then, but in that ten years, it’s become immeasurably more difficult and stressful.

I feel your pain. My last move was during covid and everything that could go wrong did! The property I originally thought was going to be mine, wasn't and they (after 6 months) hadn't bothered to tell me! There was so much more crap, then to top it off the removals doubled their price the day before, (air was blue!) then an (extra) mining search needed to be done. The 7 hour drive that followed on the day was hard but a pleasure after all the madness. It was bloody hideous! I am now moving again, so you can imagine my trepidation!
Following a diagnosis I need a much smaller house/garden. FFS!
I'm dreading it.
Just remember once it's done it's done!

Well done for getting through...it'll be a talking point at future dinner parties at least! 😬 💐
