Where to live in the uk?!

My partner & I have been discussing moving away for a long time flicking between abroad or somewhere else in the uk. We think settling with somewhere in the uk would be more manageable but we just cannot decide where. We have a toddler and it will just be the 3 of us, he’s a teacher I’m currently in admin. We just want somewhere that’s good to raise our little girl. Somewhere safe, lots to do, not silly expensive… has anyone got any suggestions? We know no where is perfect but we want a nice fresh start and somewhere that feels more us and balanced. Or is someone going to go and say move away abroad?!🤣 We considered Australia but not sure how diverse it is and we are a MWBA household.
Currently living south.

You need to give more detail…
Budget/size of house you want
Locations of any family in the UK
Hobbies/interests

3 bed house ideally, budget is probably 300k but that depends on what jobs we can get of course.
Location of family in the uk doesn’t matter to us we’re not majorly close with either of our families.
No real hobbies and interests really, husband loves reading, history, museums etc. I enjoy shopping, swimming that sort of thing but aslong as bits and pieces are reachable within a couple hours we’re not too fussed about our own interests, just lots for kids to do for our little girl and somewhere safe she can grow up.

I did put at the bottom currently living south. I don’t want to give my exact location and highly doubt it will be mentioned as somewhere to go anyway.

How about market towns. Amenities and usually very safe areas. Generally north is cheaper. North Yorkshire perhaps.

Carlisle. Close to Lake District, Scotland, Hadrian's Wall, NW Coast. 3h 15m by direct train to London. Roman history. (Relatively) cheap housing.

A village/town around York? Malton, Pocklington, Stamford Bridge, Wilberfoss. Good places to live, with easy access into York for jobs etc.

Southsea

Shrewsbury.

Safe, reasonably priced housing, plenty to do, history, shopping, gorgeous countryside all around. Easy to get to Birmingham or Manchester by train.

Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Suffolk is lovely and you could get a decent house for £300,000 i many parts of the county. Another plus point is that you can get to the coast easily.
