Getting quotes for removal companies

I'm asking for quotes from different companies for our move in August. How many would you ask? I've asked 3 different ones up to now (am still waiting for all to answer) is that enough or should I ask a few more?

I went on reallymoving.com yesterday - you enter your basic details and it gives you a list of about 6 local quotes. Within minutes two firms had phoned wanting to follow those up - they are very keen at the moment as not many people are moving - the quotes were a lot less than I thought they would be.

I went on something abit like that reallymoving.com here in germany and they only came up with their 'partner' companies, all the most expensive big well known ones of course.

There is a website where you get to take part in an auction for builders, painters and removal companies -might try that. I suppose at least 6 quotes would be better though.

Am looking forward to being there but not all the preparation, I hate organising things and sorting 'stuff' out.

The companies that reallymoving came up with were all local companies, don't know them all but at least one was a small independent, no big names. Surprisingly they were coming in at around the £500-£600 mark for a 3 bed house. I had had a rough quote of £1600 a few weeks ago from another company.

I guess you need to check the small print quite carefully for hidden pitfalls though. We haven't made a decision yet.

Haven't heard of the auction-style setup, that sounds interesting.

Same here, I'm starting to look forward to the new place but the move is going to be stress! I've been sorting files and papers all weekend, dc's room is next!

I've asked for offers on the auction thing and already got 100Euro less than the lowest quote so far so that's going to be OK by the look of it.
