building control: inspections

we are having quite a large 2 storey extension built and dh thinks I should be around for every building control inspection. Our builder feels this is a bit much as they never know when they will turn up apart from the day and that they jsut tend to have a quick conversation with them to check things and are off. He thinks it would be easier for me to arrange a visit if I was concerned about anything.
I have no concerns as they are working like mad out there and I think calling them up maybe to check how things are should be fine.

So wondered how others had handled inspections with them. Do you just leave it to your builder?

I left them all to the builder. I wasn't going to be much good if it got technical.

However I was in charge for the last one when they signed the building off ...for reasons I can't disclose!

thanks claricebeansmum, I think its best left to them. I can check up that they have been. I know you don't want to say but was it because there was a major issue between you and the builders on the last one?
no need to go into detail.
