Pros and cons of granny annexe

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has built or converted a one or two bed granny annexe for their in laws or parents on their own property. We are exploring this as an idea of how to manage going forward as we feel both families might benefit going forward.

paying two council taxes is annoying!

I’m sure they’d pay their own council tax as they do now (and bills they aren’t at all likely to take advantage of us).
