No en-suite or wc/vanity only “ensuite”

We’re mid loft conversion and one of the en-suites was framed in today - it takes too much off an otherwise lovely room. It looked like it would work on paper, but it won’t.

my options are to nix the whole idea (plumbing has been run so I’ll still incur some costs) or to do a nice wc/vanity. There is access to another large shower room in the loft (this is the 4th bathroom in a 5 bed house).

We are trying to future proof as planning on staying in this house until the end (hopefully decades away!) and a private loo is always such a bonus in a busy house.

thoughts?
Bin the idea
or
a wc & sink is better than nothing

I would say a loo and a sink is worth having rather than having to trek downstairs if you get up in the night or you're poorly.

Definitely the loo and sink if that fits nicely.

Is it two bedrooms in the loft, that will now be sharing a shower room? I think that’s fine.

Definitely have the loo and basin.

It's not clear if there's already a toilet as well as the shower room on this floor? If there is then ditch the ensuite. Too much cleaning anyway!

Hang on - are you sure it won’t work? Our builder warned us against having an en-suite as he thought it would spoil the rectangular room, but we insisted. We have never regretted it. We have a desk in the bit next to the en-suite and the rest is square enough for the bed and chest of drawers, and the over stairs cupboard is the wardrobe space. The desk area is what is left over from the en-suite if you know what I mean - it is wide enough for a full depth desk and for a proper office chair to be pushed back so you can get out from the desk, but that’s all. But it’s enough for a study area and having the shower room is ideal.

Our only regret is not including a window in the en-suite. The window is in the desk area, but we should have had another one on that wall, over the toilet. But we’ve never regretted including the en-suite.

Thanks mums - our brilliant builder came over after I texted him and we came up with a compromise which I hope will work

there isn’t a window but there will be an opening skylight

there is also a non en-suite loft shower room which is quite large and a very large main loft
