Offer Accepted... What next?

This is our first time selling and buying at the same time as our first time being in a chain. (Last time we did this we were FTBs buying a chain free place)

We've accepted an offer on ours and just (this morning) had an offer accepted on a house. Our sellers are now looking for a house.

Do we need to be doing anything? So far, we've instructed solicitors (and completed the initial paperwork about our house), but that's it. Should I be waiting until the chain is complete beforehand applying for mortgages, starting searches/booking survey or anything? How do we find out when the chain is complete? Who tells us?!

Confer with your solicitor they should be organising all this for you or at least telling you what they need from you next.

Are you tying it all in? If you are, you need a complete chain to start spending real money I think. If not - ie if you’re willing to break the chain by moving eg into rented for a few weeks/months - you can instruct your buyers to get on with it…

I would wait until the chain is complete. Otherwise you could spend money and the seller pull out if they can't find a house for example. This happened to us on a house we had an offer accepted on. Luckily we hadn't spent any money yet on searches etc.
