Currently have artex ceiling in living room and hallway
had asbestos survey and all fine
how much roughly would we be looking at to have this covered and plastered over by a plasterer?
or anyone done this themselves?

Ha! I tried and it was absolutely appalling. Turns out plastering a ceiling is a bastard of a job if you're not experienced.

You could have it skimmed. We had a builder who suggested new plasterboard and then skimming.

The quote for our living room (not hallway) was about £200-300, about three years ago.

What we did in the end was just wallpaper over it with a gently textured paper that wasn't quite as awful as artex. However, we knew we'd be selling up and moving out so didn't want to spend lots of time, money, and effort on it.

we did it in the lounge.
Looks 100% better, but we did it as part of other building work, so no idea on cost.

But, plastering the ceiling means complete;y repainting the whole room. There was a lot of work to wipe drips off the walls, do an undercoat/primer coat on ceiling (very messy) and then paint ceiling and repaint the walls.
Worth it, but a complete redo
