Ballpark figure for essential maintenance

I have seen a house in a location I am keen on but it's a little a dated and I might not have a huge amount of savings left to maintain or improve it.

Aware it will be very much a stab in the dark but just wondering how much you think I would need to budget for essential maintenance or improvements (not including decorative / vanity type stuff) for a property of this age?

It depends what you want to do? It looks in reasonable move in condition. Like you say, a bit dated but livable and you can save up and put a new kitchen and bathroom in at some point in a few years. If you want to paint and are happy to do it yourself then it would be £100-£200 a room.

As above, it doesn't look like it needs anything essential, just a bit dated so if you can DIY you could do it for a few hundred and then just live in it until you can afford any major renovation stuff like knocking down walls, new kitchen, new bathroom etc. (I bought a fixer upper that is far more dated but liveable and we're just cheaply decorating until we can afford to properly renovate)
