Can I clean a mouldy mattress?

I usually flip my mattress fairly regularly. It's a regular mattress with a memory foam top. Thanks to the perimenopause the memory foam side sent my hot flushes into overdrive so I haven't flipped it for a while but am now on HRT so decided to try the memory foam side again. I flipped it over today and it's got black mould patches on it 😣
Firstly - can I clean it and if so how? Secondly - DP has asthma. Is it ok to keep using it on the mattress side if I can't clean it? I really can't afford a new mattress at the moment!

No. It’s really disgusting and unhygienic and potentially detrimental to health. Don’t even consider it

regarding a lack of funds - make a request on your local community page or keep an eye out. Peoole often give away or sell cheaply, mattresses that have had very little use.

Thank you @BadgersSuitcase I guess this is what I was expecting to hear.

Yes get it gone! Fingers crossed you can pick up a barely used one asap - I always see them being offered round here. Ugh let’s blame the bloody menopause! Gift that keeps on giving

You shouldn’t flip a memory foam topped mattress. You turn it around but not over. If you get sweaty sleep on a towel.

I'd suggest getting a mattress protector, much more comfortable to sleep on than a towel. .

Memory foam mattress aren't meant to be flipped but regardless you can't use a mouldy mattress. It needs replacing.
I'd buy a dehumidifier for your room. It must be very damp if your mattress has gone mouldy.

We bought our mattress from Argos and pay for it monthly via paypal - interest free as well, so it was a no brainer. The mattress was £560, the payments are £16.31 a month. You could buy one way cheaper and I bet you'd pay less then a tenner a month.
