Stamp duty

We have plenty of equity in our house as have been overpaying mortgage, but not a huge amount in savings.
we are looking to move house and will have an £18500 stamp duty bill to pay. Planning to use equity to pay for this, so in essence borrow more to cover the cost of this.
have just started worrying if the solicitor will want this money before completion or will this just go through on the day of completion? Otherwise will have to briefly find this cash.
