Chrome chair legs rust spots removed ,what to apply now?

I've rubbed down some chrome chair legs that had some rust spots.
But what to use to coat them to prevent rusting of the exposed base metal?
Googling has left me baffled

Hi @allamberedover ,could you let me know how you removed the rust? Was it easy?

Rust Oleum spray.

@windmill26 not particularly difficult .I used spontext heavy duty scouring pad and some copper coloured scouring ball things from one of the few stocked shelves in M&S.
And that pink stuff paste that comes in a tub from the yet unhacked Pound Shop.
And Sherlock Holmes on Radio 4 extra .

@Papricat Rust Oleum spray.
You say that ,but which one ? I don't want to spray the legs silver or any other colour and I don't need a treatment for removing rust as I've done that .
I just want a clear sealant that won't stand out if I coat the legs or,ideally, just touch up the little spots where I've removed rust .
