How much for painting bay windows?

3 square bay windows, ground floor.
wooden & in fairly bad condition
Yorkshire based

Have had 2 quotes:
First one for £300 - felt dodgy though as if casing the joint & available the next day. Said that 2 of them would get it all done in a day.

Next quote was £1250 including zinsser paint, not available for 5weeks. Works by himself, said would take 3 days.

Obviously, I like the price of first one but won’t be using them. Bit out of touch for pricing of this kind of work. Would like to use second but have no idea if he’s priced it high as doesn’t want it, or if it just seems high because of the other chancers very low price.

The first one sounds like he wouldn't do any prep or undercoat. I would avoid him. The second one sounds thorough and its a fair price for 3 days work

No way you’re going to paint 3 bays in poor condition in one day. They’ll just slap it on in a hurry and it’ll be crap.
Several days minimum are needed; prep and filling, then sanding again and at least two coats of UC/ topcoat- you have to leave those to dry properly before proceeding.
Second quote is an actual decorator.
First quote are chancer cowboys.

Having said that; 3 days for £1250 for the second quote is expensive- not unheard of if they’re exceptionally high quality but deducing materials it works out at around £350 a day. You want 5* hotel finish for that money.

Id see if you can get another quote.

I’d the second quote is quite high but it should take him longer - a week’s work minimum to properly prep and allow for drying time between coats.

I’m with @mossymud three days is not enough. Though maybe his price accounts for a fourth day.
Get a third quote.
