Paying someone to search Rightmove

Skyfullofstarz · 18/03/2025 18:59

Hi all,

We are looking to move and are about to begin the hunt. But I do not have tonnes of time to go through Rightmove/search. When we’ve lived abroad they often have search agents who do this for you - but I cant find many in London. Do you know if these exist here? Or is anyone happy to help me 😂

I'd bet there would be a few mumsnetters who would do it.

ChristmasFairy2024 · 18/03/2025 19:11

Pretty sure if you provided details like area/bedrooms/must haves you would get some suggestions on here lol

CutiePieMiMo90 · 18/03/2025 19:12

Yes tell us what you want!! Some of us cough (me) addicted to searching rightmove...

YellowHatt · 18/03/2025 19:13

That would be a great job! I love looking on Rightmove, I think I’m on it at least four nights a week 😂

Are your criteria very very broad? Because otherwise it won’t take you long: just set the filters.

BlumminFreezin · 18/03/2025 19:15

I don't understand what you'd be paying for.

How many properties exactly meet your requirements - area, number of bedrooms, price etc. Can't be all that many surely.

If you're going to spend time employing someone, updating them on your requirements, reviewing their suggestions etc - you just as well save the money and spend that time on Rightmove or Zoopla refining the options yourself.

This is literally my job 😁
I do property search nationwide but if someone wants me to do viewings with them or for them I only cover The North.
I love it
@Skyfullofstarz feel free to PM me, I am happy to offer general advice and if you do need someone in London I might be able to help with an intro for you

2025willbemytime · 18/03/2025 19:16

I used to be a nanny for someone who started this as a business. I was amazed when she said they would charge ten per cent of the budget. The first one was 1 million pounds. She was London based.

Josiezu · 18/03/2025 19:17

There really can’t be that many active properties in the area you want with the criteria you want, even in London. After that you can set an alert to have the things you would be interested in emailed to you.

BrownPapery · 18/03/2025 19:17

There are lots of property search agents but generally they also do viewings etc and help you find stuff not officially on the market- they don't just go on Rightmove for you. You know it has filters, yes? 😉

Hoppinggreen · 18/03/2025 19:29

We can just do a search and arrange viewings or just present a shortlist.
Most of us have good contacts with Estate Agents and can get properties to view before they hit the market.
My clients tend to be corporate but we do have Private clients too

PickleSarnie · 18/03/2025 19:31

That would be my dream job!

My specialist subject on Mastermind would be 4+ bedrooms within a 10 mile radius of where I live in the past 10 years.

It can be very stressful, I spent most of today arguing with Letttings Agents who were trying to pull a fast one but generally its great.
I have some amazing clients and some very interesting stories, I may write a book one day - although I do have some NDA's

annoyedbyroofer · 18/03/2025 19:49

A friend has used such service in London. The agent helped her view properties in person and provided feedback on the property and location. They helped her with school application with the council as well. I have the website of the property agent. pm if you are interested. Dont want to post it here and risk violating any rules.

Happyhelping · 18/03/2025 19:55

This is my dream too. Literally I could spend all day on there!!!

Acornpip · 18/03/2025 19:56

Trawling rightmove is fine but I find arranging viewings and contacting estate agents etc very time consuming! I would have paid someone to manage this if I could.

Skyfullofstarz · 18/03/2025 20:01

Trawling through it is my idea of hell! We’ve been wanting to search for a while but I just can’t face going through all the listings.

This sounds really random but if anyone wants to help can you PM me? I have really specific criteria! I know the area but the main thing I find time consuming is looking at google maps as don’t want certain things nearby and certain distances between neighbours etc so i am really really fussy!!!

I wouldn’t want to give bank details etc but can send you an e gift voucher or something?

I’m a whizz on it - love doing it and would happily do it for free as I have a very flexible job for myself - you can offer me a bonus ‘if’ you get somewhere I suggest!!

are you for real?! I cannot cope trawling through it and looking at locations and google maps etc. I’ve been putting it off for months!!

Acornpip · 18/03/2025 20:03

If you’re brave enough to put your rough location on this thread OP I bet you will get people that know the area who will help.

Crikeyalmighty · 18/03/2025 20:04

@Skyfullofstarz I can’t DM I’m afraid at moment- is that function working again??

Acornpip · 18/03/2025 20:05

Or name change and make a new thread with your requirements in the property board, you’ll get loads of suggestions.

Crikeyalmighty · 18/03/2025 20:08

I’m definitely for real- honestly I enjoy it and I’m very good on detail as my 85 year old FIL was very very specific and I got him exactly what he wanted too a few months ago - we’ve moved so many times ( I’ve rented and owned)I’ve often thought I should have a business doing this - I actually have a business in something else altogether

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/03/2025 20:16

Yes, OP, property search agents definitely exist in London. I could name a few. It depends on how detailed a search you need (if it needs to include information on schools for instance).

However, there are loads of property-wise London Mumsnetters. If you post your broad requirements on a thread you will get a good selection of responses, with links, for absolutely £0! If you engage with the thread and keep it bumped I bet you would find your perfect property.

Gymbunny2025 · 18/03/2025 20:17

Isn’t this what Kirstie and Phil do? You need to apply to go on location location location!

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/03/2025 20:18

If you know the area and have really specific criteria, how much searching can there be? There won't be hundreds of properties to look through, even in London.
