Oh, I'm sneezing already just reading teh word carpet. When you're as filthy as me a carpet is a serious health hazard.

Agree, Tink - I can't keep it clean!

I just find carpets sooo hard to get clean. Every drop of tea/coffee/wine stains, every muddy footprint, every bit of playdough...
We have sanded floorboards , and a great big shaggy rug in the living room.
The rug can go to the dry cleaners if too grubby, the floorboards can be mopped and come up clean.

Sanded floorboards - with little gaps in between for most of the dust/dirt to fall through - sooo easy to maintain!

As soon as we can afford it we are having wooden floor in the hall, lounge and dinning room. Our back door is in our lounge so dd's drag dirt in and carpet need cleaning constantly. I hoover every day and they are always look dirty.

I also have to as i am allergic to housedust having wooden floors will actually help me.

Grapefruit - we have those gaps inbetween the boards too
Very easy to keep clean, a quick sweep and all teh dust and crumbs disappear to underneath the house!!
