Does anyone have pendant lights over their hob?

In the middle of choosing a kitchen design. We are having a 250x90cm kitchen island with an induction hob in. I really like the look of pendant lights over an island but I'm wondering whether it's a complete nightmare to keep them clean? What do you do about an extractor?

Ours are over an island but not near a hob (sink on island but cooker is elsewhere) and even they get dusty and mucky as hell. I wouldn’t do it!

We decided against as it inturrupted the view down the room and through the window. We did an extractor (flush ceiling installed) which has a warm white light panel built into it. It’s like having a mini skylight over the hob when on. Then did the stylish pendants over the table instead.

my parents have pendants over their island, but the island doesn’t have a hob in it. I would think they would get mucky pretty quick but it depends what kind of cooking you do and how much. Wiping dust off them each week is easy but build up from oil etc would be harder to clean off

Beware as there are a lot of new rules about what you can have around your hob now. When I had my cooker delivered they had to pretend they had fitted it sticking out due to cupboards!

Thanks for the replies. You've confirmed my suspicions that I'd need to clean them constantly. I'll steer clear!
