The delivery was scheduled last wednesday. It did not happen. Turns out the driver was spending the day getting customs clearance, in the capital 3 days drive from here. New estimated arrival day either saturday or sunday. It is tuesday now. Since then nobody has heard from him. He has not returned the agencys calls, and they dont know where he is. All they know is that "the goods are safe on the vehicle". How come they know that, but dont know where he is?? Am I panicking too son?

Where abouts are you ? In parts of Europe they can't drive over a weekend.

I'd be worrying and kicking up a hell of a storm..........

What sort of insurance do you have?

Does it adequately cover what was on the load?

They may have a tracker on the vehicle / or some sort of system which means they know it hasn't been opened....

Is it a reputable firm?

I'd be well ticked off!

I am in North Norway. Driver estimated delivery first on wednesday, then on saturday. It was not bank holiday around this parts on monday. He left Oslo on wednesday (possibly thursday morning), and it takes 24 hours to drive so should be here by now.

The agency wont tell me anything. I dont know where to turn, I think it very fishy.

Is it with a known removal firm?

Youcannotbeserious · 06/05/2008 12:33

QS - What day are they now telling you it'll be delivered?

Agree - It sounds very fishy and should be there by now!

I would tell the agency that you will be calling the police within hours if you don't hear of the whereabouts of your stuff. Perhaps he has crashed, perhaps he has gone on a drinking bender, whatever has happened they should have protocol in place to deal with it.

Are you being unloaded at your end ? If so are the people local , so you can call and find out when they have been booked to come, or are UK men due to fly over ? btw packers for our return to UK were hafla day late - they didn't even fly over until that first morning and had to rendezvous with the truck from UK, which then had to drive on to ours - but we'd still been told to expect for a 9.00am start Not Sterling by any chance ?

I have managed to get some answers. After it went through customs it was handed over to a local spedition fir (well reputed), which is doing stops all along the costs up to where I am. They are expected to be here on thursday, possibly friday. They are going to email me a tracking number, and more details.

Lets hope this is indeed the case...

What a nightmare! I would still be kicking up a huge fuss with the UK company - is it a well-known one?

donbean · 06/05/2008 14:56

oh God, i heard a story about a woman whos caravan went missing..with her mil dead inside it...from outside a police station...in France!

LIZS · 08/05/2008 16:28

any sign yet ?

claricebeansmum · 08/05/2008 16:30

Why did she have a dead mil in her caravan?

Update:

To cut a long story short. The van was NOT going to Oslo via Dover/Calais, to go through customs, and then come north from there with our stuff.

Instead it went on pallets in a big truck on the ferry from Immingham to Bergen, where it was offloaded, and left.

The removal agency had subcontracted to another Spedition firm, who in turn had subcontracted to another cargo company which is using sea freight.

The local sea freight company says the cargo, which was unamed, with no address, was due to go on the boat arriving here last thursday, it didnt. Who knows where it is? It has been bank holiday weekend, so I should call today, or preferably tomorrow to see if there is any news. All the sea freight company knew was that there was a consignment coming from Immingham, due to go somewhere in Norway to anonymous person....

What a cock up!
