Highams Park

Sorry if posting in the wrong area - first time poster here! We are looking to move to Highams Park. We are currently in Haringey and love it but like being near the forest in HP. We are looking at houses around Vincent Road, Silverdale Road and Beverly Road and wanted some advice. Is the school okay or does it get very busy on those roads? Know that there are a few schools coming off those roads. But they are gorgeous Victorian houses!! And Beech Hall Road side is too expensive for us.

And is the area nice and safe? We have 2 kids under 4 so thinking about schools too.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I live in Highams Park and I absolutely love it - it’s a hidden gem which (luckily) not too
many people know about yet! I don’t have children so I can’t speak to the schools, but the roads you mentioned are lovely. Hale End Road can be busy by Highams Park standards but certainly not by London standards, and the roads themselves you mentioned are very quiet. Handsworth (by the school) is busy at drop off time but that’s it.

safety wise, I’ve been here 11 years and never felt unsafe. Phone snatchings and car theft are the main issues, as they are all over London, but I’ve walked home late at night alone many times and only seen foxes.

The community here is wonderful and Waltham Forest was voted best place to raise a family last year so must be doing something right.

Thanks @WittyOchreBird ! Glad to hear you love it and that there's a great community.

I'd love to know any other thoughts. We're about to make the jump but feeling very nervous. Such a big decision!
