How does one move cross country? What are the mechanics and logistics? We are planning to move from the South East to Sheffield/Chesterfield surrounds, end of Feb/beginning of March.
We are renting and will continue to rent there. I understand that the rental market is incredibly competitive. When should we start looking for a new place? I understand that there will be an overlap in rental, but we don't exactly want to pay double rent for more than one month, 6 weeks at the most. Should we start looking now? We are 4 hours away and can't just pop out quickly to see properties, so there is a big chance that we will have to take a place without actually seeing it.
Does anyone know how up to date Rightmove and Zoopla are? Are most of the properties advertised on there actually still available? I have heard that there are up to 60 applicates for one property in Chesterfield, but on the other hand there are properties on the websites that have been listed weeks ago and reduced in price too. I'm so confused.
We are both working full time with a reasonable income, excellent credit ratings and 10 years in our current home, which will hopefully result in a good reference. No school aged kids, so we are flexible with the area as long as it is not too grim.
I'm so stressed by trying to work out the logistics of this! I've done 3 international moves, but this is somehow more stressful for me.
