Laminate too thick for front door in hallway

Hi all,

I've just moved into my first property, midway through the new flooring being fitted through downstairs. The fitter has realised that the laminate plus underlay will likely be too thick perhaps 4mm gap for the front door.

The front door is a upvc and he said he doesn't want to shave it like he is for the internal wooden doors.

Has anyone else had a similar situation and got any ideas without needing to replace the front door?

thanks!

Can you not lay laminate in that section and have a (thinner) recessed doormat ?
