Buying Ceramic Tiles from Europe

MiniMaggot · 07/12/2024 12:13

Has anyone had any experience of buying kitchen tiles from Europe, in this case Malta.
I've found my perfect kitchen splashback tile in Malta but I'm worried whether they'll arrive intact...
Really grateful for any experiences you can share to help me decide. Thanks

I can't help on the delivery state but be aware there is likely to be customs charges applied when they arrive in the UK.

There will be vat to add on and some import duty, luckily the tiles are pretty cheap so these plus the carriage costs bring them to pretty similar to buying in UK.
But there's no point if they might not survive the journey.

Most tiles come from abroad. I got a load from Spain and they were all fine (just took a while). I bought a small tiled ceramic fountain from Morocco that was packed beautifully (I mean seriously, I wanted to keep the crate).

Most tiles come from abroad so if the factory where you've seen them are used to exporting, they will know how to pack them

Thanks for the reassurance.
You're right, they must do this all the time.
I'll take the chance.
