Depends if you believe that bloke off the news who knocked down the one he'd just built for that woman who didn't pay him.

KatyMac · 26/04/2008 16:47

KatyMac · 26/04/2008 19:19

I would love to see some on uk houses and how to decorate them.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/12/2015 21:37

Do you mean the plastic ones that look like tiny conservatories? They're about 3-4k

The wooden porch things around the house like Americans have? No clue

Loumate666 · 30/12/2015 21:50

I've just had this one put in as part of other works so no specific price but knowing how long it took and approx labour / material rates, I would say around £2750 (we're in W Sussex):

  • Base / blockwork / paving - £750
  • Oak Frame (he cut and planed it from sawn green oak) - £1500
  • Roof - £500

We had a 3m x 1m brick porch built, with a sloping roof and window. We supplied the new front door ourselves. It was built on the footprint of the old one and cost about £2.5k iirc.

t1mum · 30/12/2015 21:55

loumate666 that looks great. I want exactly the same thing for our house in West Sussex - I don't suppose you would PM me his details....

Jojay · 30/12/2015 21:56

And as far as I know, 3m x 1m was the biggest we could get under permitted development but don't quote me on that.....

cosypenguins · 30/12/2015 22:16

I am thinking of a vestibule type of porch like loumate666 has and also the American style longer porch where you can sit.
I would be grateful for any ideas or pictures people have of these in the uk.
Loumate666 is really classy. Thanks for posting the picture.
