Solicitors really do hold you over a barrel don't they.

I really really regret choosing my solicitor as she's just so slow and doesn't seem to give a shit that she's holding up the entire process.

I chose this company very carefully after reading reviews on trustpilot, Google etc, all saying what a great company they were and specifically mentioning how organised and efficient this solicitor was. I paid more than others quoted as I thought this would make a difference but it hasn't.

Communication has been really poor. I've noticed I won't hear anything for weeks but as soon as I email for an update, there's something so it's like I have to prompt her? Surely this isn't my job?

She's gone completely silent on me now and my seller is threatening to pull out because my solicitor received paperwork from the other side (confirmed by the other solicitor and EA) nearly 3 weeks ago and hasn't done anything with it yet. This is news to me as I haven't received an update yet again. I have emailed her but haven't heard a peep.

So what the hell do I do?

Apparently I can't change solicitors as the work can't be carried over and another solicitor would just have to start again. I'll also have to pay more money.

. If you check your client care/retainer letter it should say what to do if you have a complaint and who her supervisor is at the firm- I would speak to the supervisor/head of department and ask them to move it forward for you.

Also although it’s hideous ring them a lot as this moves things forward normally.

You could also get the EA to hassle them.

find superior email addresses and CC them in - it should soon get a response..
