Best shelter for garden?

So now that the weather is turning I'm trying to think of ways to extend the use of our garden so it can be used for longer through the year. We get a lot of rain where we are so I'm looking for something that we can use when it's wet. We have a decent size garden with a good size patio.

So far my thoughts are a retractable awning on the side of the house covering part of the patio or a pergola at the bottom of the garden. Not sure how waterproof awnings are.

Has anyone used either options or something that I might not have thought about and can share any insights?

Sorry just to add, we have a budget of around £1000-£2000

An awning is probably the best bet with your budget.

Just remember to roll it back in when there is strong wind.

We have just ordered a glass roof veranda so we can go outside in the winter

I was going to suggest a glass roofed veranda but then I saw the budget.☹️

Oo just looked at the glass roofed veranda but they are out of our price range, shame. I think an awning might be the best bet. I like the fact that I can retract it if the weather is OK. Does anyone know if they are fully waterproof?

Hi there, I found your post as we're also considering getting a retractable awning - did you get one? Just wondering if you'd recommend a brand if so. Many thanks

@Trampoline did you manage to source a retractable awning? I am also on the lookout for one!

Sadly not! Would still love to hear any recommendations.

I am looking at Hillarys at the moment but don’t have a quote yet
