I’m in the midst of redecorating our living room and dining room and in need of a bit of help.
Whilst our living and dining room aren’t open plan exactly, the wall separating the two was opened up long before we bought the house so there’s a large opening between the two similar to the picture attached. My predicament is, picking colours for redecorating - do I go for similar colours/tones so they ‘flow’ or completely different to separate the two room?
At the moment, my dining room is light grey and my living room dark blue so although not the same they aren’t completely opposing colours. The dining room is going more neutral with some dark brown elements like soft furnishings, I do like light, airy, neutral living rooms but also find dark coloured living rooms to be cosy and homely.
If it makes a difference we’re in a Victorian end terrace so high ceilings etc which lends itself well to rich, dark colours and our hallway takes you into the dining room so you’re not walking through the living room to get to the rest of the house.
